For the Grand Finale, we are transported to Russia for a programme of truly festive treats. See star cellist and LICMF favourite, Yoanna Prodanova, show off her skills in Stravinsky’s vibrant and virtuosic suite from the Pulcinella love-quest ballet. Celebrating the life of composer Dmitri Smirnov, we hear his lyrical and elegiac Tiriel, inspired by a poem by William Blake and we conclude the festival with Rachmaninov’s gorgeous Cello and Piano Sonata, packed with love tunes and concerto-like piano playing by Artistic Director, Alissa Firsova. We look forward to bringing you all together again with this most stunning music!
Programme notes are available below, and you are welcome to print them out, or bring a device (on airplane mode) into the hall with you.
